Netflix Expands Mobile App Redesign Across Asia and Grows Kids' Gaming Platform

Netflix is rolling out its redesigned mobile app to South Korea and Japan in July, following earlier launches in Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, India, and Malaysia. The redesign includes a short-form video feature called Clips and themed collections, reflecting Netflix's strategy to compete with short-form video platforms. The company is also expanding Netflix Playground, its gaming hub for children, with new games tied to the hit animated series KPop Demon Hunters.
Netflix announced its expansion plans during an APAC Product Innovation Showcase, detailing how it will bring its refreshed mobile experience to additional Asia-Pacific markets. The redesigned app features Clips, a vertical video feed offering bite-sized content from Netflix's library, and the company plans to test themed collections organized by mood, genre, and interest. Beyond the mobile redesign, Netflix is scaling Netflix Playground, its gaming hub for children that first launched in April 2024 across the U.S., Canada, and the UK. The new gaming expansion will include six mini-games tied to KPop Demon Hunters, the animated musical that garnered over 518 million views in its first six months, positioning Netflix to capitalize on the show's popularity while deepening user engagement.
