District Collector Anand Mohan conducted an inspection of development projects across coastal areas of Tirunelveli district on Wednesday. The visit focused on a major ₹16.05 crore groyne construction project in Thomaiyarpuram near Radhapuram, proposed to protect fishermen's boats and shoreline properties from sea erosion following local appeals. During the inspection, the Collector reviewed a 2.77 km road project at Vijayapathi village costing ₹1.90 crore and the Siluvaiyanpillai channel-widening work. Notably, the Collector personally sampled and measured the thickness of 750 meters of newly laid road, expressing suspicion about its quality and ordering official samples for laboratory testing. The inspection also included assessment of domestic drinking water connections at Idinthakarai village and a review meeting at Radhapuram tahsildar office to examine proposals for new infrastructure including roads, bridges, culverts, and buildings in coastal villages.
