Star Air Resumes Flight Service Between Kalaburagi and Bengaluru

1 source

Star Air resumed flight service on the Kalaburagi-Bengaluru route on Wednesday after a suspension of several months, with financial support from the Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board. The route had been suspended and was revived following a March decision by ministers from the region to restore air connectivity. The resumption is expected to boost tourism, investment, and economic activity in the Kalyana Karnataka region.

Star Air officially resumed its flight service between Kalaburagi and Bengaluru on Wednesday, marking the restoration of air connectivity after several months of suspension. The inaugural flight departed Bengaluru at 6:30 a.m. with 74 passengers and arrived in Kalaburagi at 7:40 a.m., with the return flight carrying 50 passengers. The service was made possible through financial support from the Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board (KKRDB), which agreed to bear 80% of the ₹28.44 crore cost required to restart both the Bengaluru-Kalaburagi and Bengaluru-Bidar routes. The inaugural flight received strong initial demand, with nearly 90% of seats booked from Bengaluru and 65% from Kalaburagi. State officials expressed confidence that improved air connectivity will attract investments and promote tourism in the region, though the airline indicated that a proposed Kalaburagi-Mumbai service would be considered once aviation fuel prices stabilize.
