Woman dragged 100 metres on car bonnet after confronting husband with another woman in Uttar Pradesh

1 source

A 38-year-old woman in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh was dragged nearly 100 metres on a moving car's bonnet after attempting to stop her husband whom she accused of travelling with another woman. The incident occurred on Saturday evening but gained attention after a video surfaced on social media on Tuesday. Police have registered an FIR against the husband and the other woman under charges including attempt to murder and rash driving.

The incident took place at Devchara Chowraha in Bareilly district when Godavari, 38, spotted her husband Netrapal Singh, 42, with Sadhana, 32, whom she accused of having an affair with. Upon seeing them together, Godavari attempted to stop the vehicle by clinging to its bonnet, but Netrapal allegedly continued driving, dragging her approximately 100 metres before bystanders intervened and rescued her. Godavari sustained injuries and filed a complaint alleging that her husband frequently abused and assaulted her over the suspected affair, and that Sadhana also attacked her and stole her gold chain during the commotion. Sadhana denied the affair allegations, claiming she had merely accepted a ride from Netrapal while returning from the block office. Police registered an FIR against both Netrapal and Sadhana under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) including attempt to murder, rash driving, assault, and voluntarily causing hurt.

Israel accelerates demolitions and evictions in east Jerusalem, displacing Palestinians

Israeli authorities demolished over 260 homes and structures in east Jerusalem in 2025, a 70% increase from three years prior, with at least 116 demolitions already recorded in 2026. The demolitions are part of decades-long efforts to expand Jewish settlement in the annexed territory, which Palestinians and much of the international community view as illegally occupied. The accelerated pace reflects what researchers describe as unprecedented intensity, enabled by reduced international pressure and global attention focused elsewhere.

Solar Power Surpasses Coal in US Electricity Generation for First Time

In May 2026, solar power supplied 12.8% of US electricity for the first time, exceeding coal's 12.2% share, according to data from energy think tank Ember and industry reports. This milestone reflects years of steady growth in solar capacity and declining coal generation despite federal policy favoring fossil fuels. The shift underscores the ongoing transition in America's energy mix toward renewable sources.
