The Television Critics Association unveiled its 2026 TCA Award nominations, with Crave/HBO Max's 'Heated Rivalry,' HBO's 'Industry,' and Apple TV's 'Widow's Bay' topping the field with five nominations apiece. The awards, voted on by more than 220 professional TV critics, cover the 2025–2026 television season and expanded this year to 14 categories by adding Outstanding Achievement in Animation and Outstanding International Series. Winners will be announced later in the summer, and the TCA Awards have a recent track record of anticipating Emmy winners.

The Television Critics Association announced nominations for its 42nd Annual TCA Awards on Friday, with 'Heated Rivalry,' 'Industry,' and 'Widow's Bay' each earning five nominations, including Program of the Year and multiple individual acting nods. Also nominated for Program of the Year are 'The Comeback,' 'Hacks,' 'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,' last year's winner 'The Pitt,' 'Pluribus,' and 'Shrinking.' The Individual Achievement in Drama category features a crowded field including both 'Heated Rivalry' leads Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams, returning winner Noah Wyle, Rhea Seehorn, David Harbour, Sterling K. Brown, Katherine LaNasa, and three 'Industry' cast members. The comedy acting category includes Jean Smart, Hannah Einbinder, Harrison Ford, Matthew Rhys, Kate O'Flynn, Lisa Kudrow, Elle Fanning, and Tim Robinson. Two new categories were introduced this year: Outstanding Achievement in Animation, recognizing the best new or returning animated series, and Outstanding International Series, honoring shows produced outside the U.S. where the predominant on-screen language is not English. The eligibility period covers June 1, 2025 through May 31, 2026, and winners will be announced via TCA's social media later this summer.

How coverage differed

The New York Post framed the nominations with more promotional enthusiasm, highlighting the TCA's track record of predicting Emmy winners and describing categories as 'hyper-competitive,' while the center-leaning outlets (Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, AV Club) reported the nominations more straightforwardly. The AV Club added an editorial note calling Widow's Bay's nominations 'rightful,' reflecting a mild advocacy tone absent from the other outlets.

Exhibition Brings Over 70 Impressionist Works to Geelong, Honouring the Dealer Who Championed the Movement

More than 70 paintings that passed through the hands of 19th-century French art dealer Paul Durand-Ruel are now on display at the Geelong Gallery in Victoria, Australia, in an exhibition co-curated by his great-great-granddaughter Claire Durand-Ruel. Durand-Ruel famously risked financial ruin to champion the impressionists, shipping over 300 works to New York in 1886 and helping rescue artists like Monet and Renoir from poverty and obscurity. The show, running until October 2025, is the most ambitious in the Geelong Gallery's 130-year history and highlights both celebrated masters and a lesser-known second wave of impressionists the dealer also supported.
