USPS Launches Comprehensive America 250 Commemorative Stamp Series for Nation's 250th Anniversary

The U.S. Postal Service has launched an extensive America 250 stamp program to commemorate the nation's semiquincentennial. The centerpiece is the American Icons collection, curated by fashion designer Ralph Lauren—the first time USPS has invited a single individual to oversee an entire stamp program. The 13-stamp pane includes 12 Forever stamps depicting familiar American symbols such as the U.S. flag, hamburger, pickup truck, lighthouse, wild horses, a Diné blanket, and Jackie Robinson's baseball glove, with a 13th central stamp featuring a knitted flag design marked "1776–2026." The program also includes a dedicated Declaration of Independence Forever stamp with numerals shaped as quill pens, designed by typographer Juan Carlos Pagan, with a first-day-of-issue ceremony scheduled for July 4 in Philadelphia. Additionally, the Figures of the American Revolution collection features 25 individual portraits arranged in a five-by-five grid, highlighting the diversity of those involved in the independence movement, including activists, lawmakers, soldiers, presidents, Native American leaders, and both free and enslaved individuals. USPS officials emphasized that the project involved years of collaboration with historians and subject matter experts to ensure accuracy.
