Shannen Doherty's Malibu Home Sells for $7.65 Million

1 source

Late actress Shannen Doherty's Malibu property sold for $7.65 million, down from an initial asking price of $9.5 million. Doherty purchased the home in 2004 for $2.56 million and described it as her personal sanctuary during her cancer battle before her death in July 2024. The proceeds from the sale will go to her mother, Rosa, as Doherty had no children.

Shannen Doherty's longtime Malibu estate has officially closed escrow at $7.65 million, representing a significant markdown from its initial August 2025 listing price of $9.5 million. The property, which Doherty purchased in 2004 for $2.56 million, underwent extensive renovations in 2018 following damage from the Woolsey Fire. The five-bedroom, 5,400-square-foot home features a largely stucco exterior with prominent glass walls offering views of the surrounding area, custom cabinetry, and decor collected during Doherty's travels. The sale faced multiple price reductions before securing an offer in May, with realtor Chris Cortazzo citing increased buyer concerns about wildfire risk in the Malibu area as a factor in the extended marketing period. As Doherty had no children and was legally married to photographer Kurt Iswarienko at the time of her death in July 2024 (though they had separated in 2023 and divorced two days after her passing), the sale proceeds will benefit her mother.

Historian Gordon Wood, Pioneer of Revolutionary Era Scholarship, Dies at 92

Gordon Wood, a prominent historian who revolutionized the study of the American Revolution and Founding Fathers, has died at age 92, just weeks before the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Wood and his mentor Bernard Bailyn pioneered a scholarly approach that carefully examined primary sources like pamphlets and debates rather than imposing ideological frameworks onto history. His work represents the end of what scholars call a golden age in American Revolutionary historiography that began in the postwar decades.
