Ramanathapuram District Seeks Donors to Help Students Access Higher Education

The Ramanathapuram district administration in Tamil Nadu has launched an appeal for donors and philanthropists to help students from low-income families continue their higher education. The Tamil Nadu government has committed to achieving 100% enrollment in higher education for grade 12 graduates, but some students in the district face financial barriers. The initiative aims to bridge the gap between government support schemes and the actual needs of economically disadvantaged students.
The district collector of Ramanathapuram has formally invited donors and philanthropists to assist struggling students in continuing their higher education through material aid or fee payments. The appeal comes as the Tamil Nadu government has announced a commitment to ensure universal enrollment in higher education for all grade 12 completers. While the state has implemented various schemes and policies to support students facing financial constraints, some graduates from government and government-aided schools in the district remain unable to afford further education. The district administration has established a Higher Education Guidance Control Room at the District Collector's Office with dedicated phone lines and WhatsApp contacts to facilitate connections between donors and students in need. District Collector M. Sivaguru Prabhakaran has personally requested philanthropists to come forward and support poor, underprivileged, and financially backward students.
