Authorities in Andhra Pradesh rescued 15 children from Bihar who were being transported on the Jogbani-Erode Amrit Bharat Express train to Tamil Nadu, where they were allegedly destined to work as daily laborers in factories. The Government Railway Police and Railway Protection Force, working with four voluntary organizations (HELP, SARDS, AVA, and SFIRD), intercepted the children at Ongole railway station on Tuesday evening. Police arrested 12 members of the trafficking gang involved in the operation. Following the rescue, the District Joint Collector ordered strict legal action against the traffickers and directed officials to identify the specific districts in Bihar where the children originated and to facilitate their safe return to their families. The children were temporarily housed at the District Social Welfare Hostel under the supervision of the District Child Welfare Committee, which also collected their details and provided immediate care and clothing.
