Nithu Bai is a repeat offender with at least 18 previous bookings under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. In August 2023, she was arrested in a major trafficking case where authorities seized large quantities of cannabis and ₹40.3 lakh in cash, subsequently freezing 16 bank accounts containing ₹1.53 crore and attaching immovable properties worth approximately ₹2 crore acquired through drug proceeds. In March 2024, she was arrested again along with three family members in connection with a ganja distribution network that sourced cannabis in bulk at ₹8,000 per kg and sold it in 5-gram packets for ₹450-₹500 to customers across Hyderabad and Cyberabad. Despite previous detention under the Preventive Detention Act in 2021 and jail time, she allegedly resumed drug peddling from her residence.
