Police in Bangalore arrested a Nepali couple, Pawan Bista and Sita Bista, for stealing ₹25 lakh in cash from their employer's residence, with the entire amount recovered. The couple were employed as a security guard and domestic help at the contractor's home and allegedly took the money to fund a luxurious lifestyle. The theft was discovered when the employer returned home to find the couple missing and the cash gone from a locked cupboard.
The Amruthahalli police arrested Pawan Bista and his wife Sita Bista on May 28 after they allegedly stole ₹25 lakh in cash from contractor C.H. Subbrareddy's residence in Arkavathi Layout. The employer had withdrawn the cash from a bank to pay worker wages and stored it in a locked cupboard with the key hidden in another cupboard. The couple, who worked as a security guard and domestic help, disappeared on the morning of May 27 while the contractor was at work, leaving the room allotted to them open and their phones switched off. When the contractor returned and discovered the theft, he filed a complaint with police, who tracked and arrested the couple the next day. The full amount was recovered from their possession, and during interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to committing the theft to support a luxurious lifestyle.
