Notebooks crafted from unused blank pages were distributed to students from three schools in Mysuru on Wednesday under a joint initiative by the Department of Public Libraries and Balya Foundation. Regional Commissioner Nitesh Patil emphasized the environmental benefits and encouraged public participation in donating unused notebook pages.
The Department of Public Libraries and Balya Foundation launched a campaign in Mysuru to collect unused pages from partially used notebooks, bind them together, and distribute them to underprivileged students. During a ceremony at the City Central Library, Regional Commissioner Nitesh Patil distributed the recycled notebooks to students from CSI Victoria School, Gadichowk Higher Primary School, and Mahajana High School. The initiative serves a dual purpose: providing educational materials to children in need while reducing environmental impact by decreasing demand for new paper production. Students from participating schools contributed to the campaign by donating their own unused notebook pages. Officials and participants, including journalist Ramesh Uthappa, highlighted the initiative as an environmentally-friendly practice that promotes national development and encouraged the public to support the ongoing collection and distribution effort.
