According to police, the unemployed man from Bengaluru had been traveling along the Chittoor-Katpadi-Arakkonam-Chennai rail route for several weeks before identifying the ATM outlet near the farmers' market in Katpadi as a target. He attempted to break open the machine's locker but was unsuccessful. Bank officials reviewed CCTV camera footage of the incident and alerted local police, who apprehended him at the scene. Police seized welding machines, fake ATM cards, and mobile phones from the suspect. He has been lodged at Central Prison in Vellore, and a formal case has been registered with an investigation underway.
