The Kerala State Human Rights Commission (KSHRC) took suo motu cognizance of the incident and issued orders directing the Munnar Divisional Forest Officer to conduct an immediate inquiry into wild elephant attacks in Chinnakkanal over the last three years, specifically examining whether the animals lack access to migratory corridors. The commission has mandated compensation for the victim's legal heirs and directed the Idukki District Collector to coordinate with multiple agencies to assess boarding school placement options for the orphaned children and establish oversight mechanisms for fund utilization. Both the DFO and District Collector have been ordered to submit detailed reports within three weeks, with senior representatives required to appear before the commission on July 15.
