Instagram has rolled out its grid reordering feature to users worldwide as of the week of June 8, 2025, nearly a year and a half after it was publicly announced by Instagram head Adam Mosseri. Previously, posts on a user's profile appeared in strict reverse-chronological order, with the only exception being the ability to pin up to three posts at the top. The new feature, accessible by long-pressing any post and selecting 'Reorder grid,' opens a drag-and-drop interface where users can arrange their content in any order they choose; pinned posts remain fixed at the top and are grayed out in the reorder view. Meta told USA Today, 'We know this is long overdue, but we wanted to take the time to get it right.' The rollout coincides with several other Instagram updates, including new handwritten fonts from content creators coming June 20 and easier Spotify music sharing via Instagram Notes. The feature is currently available only on mobile. Mosseri had originally apologized for disrupting carefully curated profiles when Instagram shifted from square to taller, vertical thumbnails, making this update particularly significant for users who had built aesthetic grid layouts.
