Human-in-the-Loop Approach Outperforms Automated Chain-of-Thought for Interview Answer Improvement

The human-in-the-loop method produced larger gains in candidate confidence (3.16 to 4.16, p<0.001) and authenticity (2.94 to 4.53, p<0.001, Cohen's d=3.21), while requiring only one iteration versus five for the automated approach. Both methods converged rapidly, but the human approach achieved a 100% success rate on initially weak answers compared to 84% for automation, with a large effect size (Cohen's h=0.82). The researchers also proposed an adversarial mechanism called "bar raiser" to simulate realistic interviewer behavior, though they note this requires further quantitative validation. The findings indicate that domain-specific enhancements and context-aware method selection are more critical than raw computational resources for effective interview preparation systems.
