The vehicle, bound for Macau, was declared to contain wine, garments, health supplements, and cameras, but X-ray imaging revealed significant discrepancies. Officers discovered undeclared cosmetic injections, weight-loss injections, medical tablets suspected to be classified as Part 1 poisons, and 270kg of fish maw concealed deep within the cargo. According to customs inspector Leung Tak-wai, the total value of seized goods reached HK$10 million (US$1.27 million). Under Hong Kong law, Part 1 poisons are subject to the strictest controls and may only be sold by authorized sellers. The case illustrates a common smuggling strategy in which illicit items are mixed with declared goods and hidden deep inside vehicles to escape detection.
