Guatemalan Cellist and American Guitarist Release Experimental Collaboration Album

Guatemalan cellist Mabe Fratti and American guitarist Bill Orcutt have unveiled an experimental musical collaboration titled "Almost Waking." The project originated when Fratti publicly praised Orcutt's existing work, leading Orcutt to initiate contact between the two artists. Working primarily through remote sessions, the musicians created an album that features Orcutt's electric guitar as a central element, with Fratti contributing ethereal Spanish-language vocals on two tracks. Music critics have noted the album evokes "ghosts of British folk and Pacific Northwest indie rock," with Pitchfork drawing specific comparisons to Built to Spill, early Rod Stewart, and Fairport Convention.
