The survey found that roughly 25% of retailers are stocking promotional or World Cup-linked goods, with food retailers, clothing and footwear stores, sports shops, DIY stores, electronics retailers, and toy sellers being most active. HDE head Stefan Genth noted that sales effects from events held outside Germany are typically confined to individual sectors and product categories. He emphasized that consumer spending is largely driven by psychology, suggesting that strong performance by the German national team could improve national mood and potentially boost consumption.
