Delhi Lieutenant-Governor Approves 5.6 Acres for Solar Pooling Substation in Issapur

1 source

Delhi's Lieutenant-Governor approved the allotment of 5.6 acres of gram sabha land in Issapur village for construction of a solar pooling substation to support growing solar power projects in the region. The 66 KV/11 KV substation will address power evacuation constraints as the existing 11 KV network lacks capacity to handle increased renewable energy generation from agricultural landowners. The infrastructure upgrade is intended to strengthen Delhi's renewable energy capacity and grid stability.

Delhi Lieutenant-Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu approved the allotment of approximately 5.6 acres (nine bighas) of Delhi Development Authority (DDA) gram sabha land in South West Delhi's Issapur village for a solar pooling substation on a 99-year lease at no cost. The substation is designed to address power evacuation constraints in the Issapur-Dhansa belt, where solar energy generation has increased significantly due to rising applications for solar connections from agricultural landowners operating under Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission net-metering regulations. The existing 11 KV network lacks sufficient capacity to absorb and transmit the growing volume of renewable energy being generated in the region. The proposed 66 KV/11 KV substation will facilitate electricity transfer from these solar plants to the city's main power grid and strengthen renewable energy infrastructure. The approval also included transfer of DDA land to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation for a lift installation at Rohini West metro station.
