AIIMS Mangalagiri Inaugurates AYUSH Department, Plans New Specialty Units
AIIMS Mangalagiri inaugurated its Department of AYUSH on Wednesday, integrating traditional medicine systems with modern healthcare. The institute plans to introduce Yoga, Siddha, Ayurveda Pharmacy, and Panchakarma services, along with new departments for Sports Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, and Biotechnology. These expansions aim to provide specialized care to patients across Andhra Pradesh and neighboring states.
AIIMS Mangalagiri's Executive Director and CEO Ahanthem Santa Singh inaugurated the Department of AYUSH as part of efforts to integrate traditional systems of medicine with modern healthcare practices. The department will soon introduce Yoga and Siddha services, with two additional Medical Officers joining the team. Medical Officer (Ayurveda) Pushpanjali Akula announced that Ayurveda Pharmacy and Panchakarma services would become operational in the near future. Beyond AYUSH, the institute announced plans to establish a Department of Sports Medicine for sportspersons and a Department of Geriatric Medicine to address healthcare needs of elderly populations. Additionally, AIIMS Mangalagiri is collaborating with IIT Tirupati to establish a Department of Biotechnology aimed at strengthening interdisciplinary research and innovation.
