The Television Academy opened nomination voting for the 2026 Primetime Emmy Awards on June 11, with 555 program submissions across 14 categories, down 7.5% from 600 submissions in 2025. The decline was primarily driven by a significant drop in variety special submissions, while comedy submissions increased slightly. Voting runs through June 22, with nominations announced July 8 and the awards ceremony scheduled for September 14 on NBC.

Nomination voting for the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards began on June 11, 2026, with nearly 24,000 Television Academy members voting across their professional peer groups. The total of 555 program submissions represents a decline of 45 titles (7.5%) compared to last year's 600 submissions. The largest drop occurred in the variety special (pre-recorded) category, which fell from 89 to 66 submissions—accounting for roughly half the overall decline. Drama series submissions contracted from 126 to 110, while comedy buckets the trend by increasing from 69 to 71 submissions. Across performer categories, 1,573 submissions are in contention, down from 1,706 in 2025. Prime Video's "The Boys" and "Saturday Night Live" lead with 28 performer submissions each. Voting concludes June 22, nominations are announced July 8 (with some artisan categories delayed to July 15), and the Creative Arts Emmy Awards and Governors Gala take place September 5-6, followed by the main Primetime Emmy Awards on September 14.
